Working with Catherine has been a voyage in discovery, as we watched her talents unfold in guiding us through the unfamiliar process of selling our house.

 

When I originally, approached Catherine to be our real estate agent, what was uppermost in my mind was that I had always liked what I'd seen of her, and that as a member of the neighborhood, it would be in her interest to see that she got a  good price for the house.

 

Our initial interview with Catherine quickly made it clear that Catherine had a powerful financial background.  This was to become an outstanding feature of our relationship:  Catherine was able to analyze offers in a way that we could not, she could identify their strengths and weaknesses, explain the stipulations and clauses put in, help us to frame counteroffers, in short, lead us gently and safely through a world that was to us mysterious, confusing, even frightening.  Her documentation was moreover always impeccable, carefully thought through and laid out for each interview.

 

Once we had agreed to work together, the first task was to declutter a very crowded household.  Catherine was prompt to highlight aspects of our furnishings that would underscore the home's personality and assist in it sale, and she made helpful suggestions as to how to dispose of the excess.  Once the clearance had begun she was expert at redesigning the layout of the furniture.  The living areas took on a new life, the house began to work in a way it never had before.  Rooms that had looked inward now swept the eye of the beholder out towards the view over the sea.  An entrance hall that had been dead became a gracious area of welcome.  Under her direction the house became exciting and alive.

 

No such process ever goes forward without obstacles, and Catherine proved able at taking setbacks in her stride, suggesting alternatives, keeping the ball rolling in a positive direction.  She was supportive, motherly yet friendly, calm and efficient, never pushing, always encouraging, always there when needed.

 

Catherine, it turns out, does not stand alone in putting her services on the line.  She is part of a bigger team, as we discovered, with her husband providing skilled carpentry services and an army of tradesmen at her beck and call, all of whom came promptly, and under Catherine's exacting supervision rendered excellent service.

 

Catherine, thus combines a rare spectrum of talents that make her an ideal realtor.  We are very proud that in these difficult financial times we have through her efforts succeeded in attracting an array of favorable offers and have achieved the best possible market  price for the property that we have loved so much.

EARLIER THIS YEAR, WE HAD DECIDED TO LEAVE OUR HOME IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND MOVE CLOSER TO OUR CHILDREN NEAR AUSTIN, TEXAS.  OF COURSE THE ECONOMY, AND ESPECIALLY THE HOUSING MARKET, WAS A MESS.  BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP CATHERINE BENNISON!

 

FIRST, SHE MET WITH MY WIFE AND ME TO DISCUSS HER MARKETING PLAN.  SHE THEN ADVISED US ON THE MOST INVITING INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ARRANGEMENT OF OUR HOME.  NEXT, SHE HAD HER PHOTOGRAPHER TAKE BEAUTIFUL, ROOM BY ROOM, PICTURES OF THE HOME AS PART OF HER MARKETING PLAN.  FROM THIS, SHE CREATED AND EXCELLENT "FLYER" FOR HAND OUT, AND A VIRTUAL INTERNET TOUR OF THE HOME FOR THE MULTIPLE LISTING SERVICE AND OTHER AGENTS.

 

WORKING WITH US AROUND OUR PERSONAL SCHEDULES, SHE PLANNED MULTIPLE OPEN HOUSES, INCLUDING BROKER AND AGENT OPEN HOUSES, THAT GENERATED NUMBER OF INQUIRES AND "SHOWINGS."  AS A RESULT, IN LESS THAN THREE MONTHS WE HAD MULTIPLE OFFER ON THE UNIT, AND LESS THAN SEX WEEKS LATER, THE HOUSE WAS SOLD.

 

DURING THIS ENTIRE, DEMANDING PROCESS, CATHERINE STAYED IN CLOSE COMMUNICATION WITH US AND PROVIDED INFORMATION ON TRADES PEOPLE FOR SMALL MAINTENANCE ISSUES, STATUS OF VARIOUS CITY PERMIT ISSUES, ETC., TAKING THE BURDEN OFF OF OUR SHOULDERS.

Now that we are finally moved in - at least most of the boxes are unpacked - we have a moment to write.  We want to let you know how much we appreciate all the work you did to help us move to San Pedro.  From the beginning, you listened to us and showed us homes you felt fit our needs.  When things turned difficult on two different properties, you stepped in and let us know our options - always keeping our needs first.

 

You went above and beyond when our own home completed escrow and we had no where to go - you made reservations for us at the Doubletree Inn in San Pedro...even making sure we could have our dogs with us.  You made sure we were always informed and you had answers when ever we had questions.  I can't imagine how we would have survived without you.

 

All your help and support made out move much easier.
